A bath soak for deep sleep is perfect if you have difficulties falling asleep, remaining asleep throughout the night, and getting up in the mornings. I sometimes struggle with my mind running rampant with thoughts as I am trying to fall asleep – often about what I need to do tomorrow, this weekend, or something I forgot to do today.

Sometimes a little “me time” is more needed than you may realize. Remembering to take care of ourselves can become challenging as we tackle so many tasks from day to day, but we should always take the time to care for our mind and our body. As I’m sure you know, getting adequate sleep in crucial to our health.

BOTANICALS NEEDED FOR DEEP SLEEP BATH SOAK:

🌿 1/2 ounce of dried basil
🌿 1/2 ounce of dried sage
🌿 1/4 ounce of dried marjoram
🌿 1/2 ounce of dried star anise

In a large pot combine the basil, sage, marjoram, and star anise with 2 quarts of water. Stir to combine. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Keep covered while boiling!

Once boiling, lower the heat to a simmer. Let simmer for 5 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it steep for 15 minutes. Strain the infused liquid through a fine mesh strainer into a glass bowl or pitcher. Discard or compost the herbs.

Fill your bathtup with warm water (100-115 degrees) and add your infused liquid to the bath. Allow the running bath water to combine with the infusion. Once the bath is full, add the 10 drops of clary sage oil and the 10 drops of lavender oil to the bath. Soak for 20 minutes.

Do not use soap, body wash, or scrub your skin during this soak. Do not rinse after soaking.

HOLISTIC BENEFITS OF THIS BATH SOAK FOR DEEP SLEEP

The fragrant blend of these botanicals create a soothing aroma, perfect for inducing deep sleep. As you inhale the aroma of basil, allow it to release you of stress, tension, and mental fatigue. As you breathe in the scent of sage and marjoram, allow it to warm and relax you. The sweet licorice scent of star anise complements the others and creates a wonderful balance to this holistic bath soak.

Clary sage and lavender oil are famous for relaxation and help inducing sleep.

Please do not use your cell phone during the soak.

As you further relax in this bath soak for deep sleep, allow your mind to rest. As thoughts form in your head, silence them. Focus on silence, peacefulness, and the aromas around you.

Perhaps allow these scents to travel through your body – healing you from head to toe. If interested in background music, Harmony or Serenity by David Sun are perfect choices.

While this deep sleep bath soak is perfect for inducing rest, I recommend this soak 3 times per week.

If you are pregnant or nursing, or have medical concerns, it is always recommended to speak with a healthcare professional beforehand.

MORE TIPS FOR A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP

Remember to try not to use your cell phone or look at a computer, tablet, or tv 1 hour before bed. Looking at a screen before bed has been proven to disrupt sleep patterns.

Do yoga or stretching before bed. Practicing yoga before going to sleep improves sleep quality, reduces stress and anxiety, relaxes the body, and promotes mental clarity and mindfulness.

WHERE TO BUY HERBS FOR DEEP SLEEP BATH SOAK

I personally trust Mountain Rose Herbs the most for all my needs – dried herbs and oils. However, I do also use Frontier Co-op for herbs and Plant Therapy for oils. Depending on your budget and how quickly you require your items, you may prefer to use Frontier Co-op and Plant Therapy – both are available through Amazon.

Other favorite bath soaks of mine are:

  • Magnesium Bath Soak
  • Bentonite Clay Bath Soak

Both of these soaks are on rotation in my house and they always leave us feeling refreshed and re-energized. Even my 6 year old gets excited about bath soaks!

Magnesium has been my go-to for years, and it is especially helpful in relieving muscle pain and full body tension. Read more about magnesium here

Bentonite clay removes heavy metals and other toxins from the body. To learn more about bentonite clay and its amazing benefits, click here
