Going green and sustainability go hand in hand, and I am all about both! Sustainability is the use of products that won’t damage the future generations’ resources. These are easy sustainable swaps for your home!

top Sustainable items to have in your home:

Sayonara sponges! Sponges are quickly becoming a thing of the past for many households who enjoy a more sustainable lifestyle. Reusable dish cloths are more sustainable (less waste) and save you money.

Dryer sheets contribute to landfills and are well-known for causing skin reactions in those with sensitive skin. Dryer balls are eco-friendly and reduce static and wrinkles. To never have static again, consider switching your clothes to all natural materials, such as cotton, linen, and wool!

3. GLASS FOOD STORAGE CONTAINERS (NO PLASTIC)

Plastic is a big “no” for our oceans and landfills. As you may know, it takes hundreds of years for plastic to break down and most of it doesn’t get recycled properly – or at all. I try to avoid it when I can. Bamboo lids are fabulous alternatives to plastic and actually last much longer, too!

4. laundry powder

No products found.

Liquid detergent is the worst! It’s packed with harmful chemicals, contains more water than anything, and clogs washing machines. (This I know from experience!) Laundry powder cleans better and is safer for your washing machine.

5. compostable sandwich bags

MORE SUSTAINABILITY TIPS:

  1. Avoid using fruit/veggie bags at the grocery store! Use none or bring your own – you’tre going to wash them at home anyways!
  2. Carry your own re-usable shopping bag with you at all times.
  3. Unplug electronics when not in use and before bed.
  4. Try to walk or ride a bike instead of driving. Or use public transportation if available.
  5. Recycle or upcycle!

Eating organic, avoiding fast fashion, stopping animal lab testing, and becoming more sustainable have become top priorities these days, and I love it so much!

Switching to more sustainable products doesn’t have to be a leap – you can start small and swap out a few items here and there until you find what works for you. Just try to be more plastic aware as you’re shopping and you’re off to a great start!
